From marketing supply chain to brand supply chain

New levels of complexity, as much as the need for cost-effectiveness and optimal allocation of capital, require new forms of co-operation and the outsourcing of certain business processes alike. Environmental issues become more pressing, the demands for sustainable business practices are rising, local and international standards are constantly changing: as a result, requirements for supply chains are rising, too. New Information and Communication Technology and its interconnection into the internet of things – also known as business 4.0 – allow new forms of integrated business processes.

Such substantial changes have been foreseeable for a while, so mcs has focussed its marketing supply chain management around them. mcs’ own platform, Ziggy™, not only supports the sourcing and distribution of promotional media, but can also coordinate and steer logistics for all marketing products. A seamless flow of sales-support materials not only reduces inventory and allows for cost savings, but also enables better planning, thanks to the availability of consolidated data in real time.

For Purchase

Reducing costs instead of prices: how the purchasing department can deliver real savings

Reducing costs instead of prices: how the purchasing department can deliver real savings

We assist our clients to gauge the best price from the start. Once that is done, the real work begins. Sourcing departments in many organisations proceed from looking at price per unit to regarding total costs along the entire value chain. We assist them by using supply chain management as a guiding process for all marketing media by the client. Our software solution, Ziggy™, is the perfect logistics and transaction platform for this purpose and is ready for worldwide use.

Our clients remain completely free in their choice of suppliers such as printers or display producers and remain able to profit from the best offer available.

We integrate our easy-to-use system into the client’s own intranet to provide internal users – from the marketing, sales or HR departments – with planning, handling and control of all marketing media with a new level of transparency.

Working seamlessly with the client’s purchasing department, mcs’ marketing supply chain management will find new ways to economise on transport costs and inventory. This both saves time and frees up budgets.

Transparent reporting and state of the art analytics will uncover potential savings – time and time again. The idea of constant cost reductions thus becomes a reality.

For Marketing

Less costs and better performance: new freedom for marketing

Less costs and better performance: new freedom for marketing

mcs’ Ziggy™ delivers the critical walk-through solution to deal with the increasing complexity being faced by marketing experts. This transaction and logistics platform with worldwide reach allows them to implement an integrated supply chain management for all marketing media.

Ziggy™ is structured in modules and adapts specifically to the individual needs of marketing organisations in all regions and countries. It is designed to connect seamlessly with the client’s intranet and allows all users, depending on their level of authorisation, to use it easily. Extensive reporting and analytics allow a new level of evaluation of effectiveness and the development of new key performance indicators (KPIs).

Phase 1 of the implementation of Ziggy™ achieves both massive time savings in managing marketing and point of sales materials, as well as the simplification of their use.

Phase 2 facilitates professional marketing supply chain management and significant cost savings, thanks to an effective reduction of stock, along with simultaneously improved availability and less waste. This not only improves the balance of the budget, but also promotes service quality for colleagues in other departments.

Clarity of process within Ziggy™, along with the leverage of customer-specific data, promotes a new form of dialogue and allows thinking room for new and creative approaches in marketing. mcs relieves marketing from administrative tasks and allows for more capacity to return to its core task: being the engine room of the enterprise.

For Sales

Better sales support allows for easier selling

Better sales support allows for easier selling

Ziggy™ provides a central portal for sales that makes all supporting materials accessible via intranet in an organised and simple way: price lists, catalogues, brochures as well as training materials, mobile equipment for trade fairs, promotional media and whatever else may come in handy. The organisation of a trade fair, for example, becomes turn-key. Moreover, delivery can be made in one single shipment.

Thanks to Ziggy™, office and field works achieve a new service quality in regards to sales support material:

> easy to order
> fast availability
> »mixed and matched« orders all in one basket
> less out-of-stock
> less need for storage
> lower costs for transport and transactions

New methods of analytics provide a hitherto unknown transparency for sales leadership, offering new possibilities to evaluate the efficiency of instruments and sales initiatives – worldwide, specific for regions and countries. .

This is how Ziggy™ supports the work of the sales force and delivers the base for current and future growth.

For HR

The war for talent: professional support desperately needed!

The war for talent: professional support desperately needed!

Ziggy™ provides a central portal for the human resources department that makes all supporting materials accessible via intranet in an organised and simple way: price lists, catalogues, brochures as well as training materials, mobile equipment for trade fairs, promotional media and whatever else may come in handy. The organisation of a trade fair, for example, becomes turn-key. Moreover, delivery can be made in one single shipment.

> easy to order
> fast availability
> »mixed and matched« orders all in one basket
> less out-of-stock
> less need for storage
> lower costs for transport and transactions

Ziggy™ brings the management of those materials to a new level, unburdens HR from administrative processes and saves costs thanks to professional supply chain management. And HR can focus on current and future colleagues too.

For IT

Digitalisation: a step forward for the marketing supply chain

Digitalisation: a step forward for the marketing supply chain

To manage the entire range of marketing materials, a comprehensive IT solution is needed. mcs’s Ziggy™ far exceeds the full-service offerings from the conventional offerings of merchandisers or printers, which offer handling, storage and logistics in one stop. Ziggy™ encompasses all promotional material and covers the entire demand from marketing, sales, HR and other cost centres. It is accessible worldwide and independent from suppliers. As such, Ziggy™ renders all insular solutions redundant. Its modular structure combines all the advantages of product information management with the latest analytics and also delivers a variety of reporting standards.

Ziggy™ can be integrated into any IT landscape. The system supports a variety of different computer languages and enables the imbedding of data created within other software environments. The interface design can be custom-made to adhere to client-specific demands. Integration with SAP and ARIBA is standard and a mostly self-explanatory user interface reduces the need for training. Ziggy™ is fundamental in furthering the digitisation of the corporation, reduces work load and saves a significant amount of costs in the marketing supply chain.

The better the marketing supply chain is integrated, the greater the advantage

Our supply chain management links all corporate departments to a horizontal network: from marketing to HR. Based on an integrated strategy, common goals can therefore be pursued together and cost and personnel savings can be achieved. The avoidance of redundant interfaces and the simplification of processes are just a few of the advantages that can become manifest along the corporate value chain. No matter if you involve us up-front in the planning of your marketing material flow, or if you call us in to help you steer an existing one, the additional efficiency and effectiveness that we deliver are considerable.
A high level of service together with cost effectiveness are guaranteed.

We focus on processes and are experienced in handling large international projects and so we are able to play in the »Champions League« of global players in all industries. It does not matter how high our clients are flying and which level of abstraction they need, we think alike and ahead.

People matter.

mcs is an agile enterprise. As such we are always on the lookout for the best solution for our clients: we go the extra mile. We focus not on issues, but on solutions, with a deep experience and enduring motivation.

We prefer people and connections to processes and methods. Co-operation with our clients is more important to us than negotiating contracts and we will always choose fast reactions to change over blinkered fulfilment of pre-determined plans.

That is only possible thanks to our staff, who work in decentralised, self-managing teams, which leverage their talents to regularly exceed the expectations of your clients.

Ralf Dickopf

Chief Executive Officer

Profile: colleague, consultant for the client, CEO, strategist, creative thinker, innovator

Ralf is mcs’ strategic thinker and visionary. His relationship with the business that he inherited – selling promotional material – mixed with a background of conventional business studies was and remains ambivalent. But it is this ambivalence that fuels his energy and passion – and the evolutionary momentum of the enterprise. mcs’ business model with a multiple »win« for clients, employees, but also society and the planet could not have been developed without Ralf.

Ralf’s mantra is the creation of real value and the enhancement of the service model from delivering promotional material to effective brand supply chain management. Instead of selling his customers more of the same, his core objective is to make his client’s expenditure matter; to produce, store and manage fewer unnecessary goods and to supply them with a platform where they can find everything they need at the right time for the right location.

Transparency and data feedback to his customers’ decision makers create the base for informed decisions in the future.

Profile: colleague, finance whizz, customer consultant. CFO, structure defining force, focus finding zoom

After many years as a management consultant Roland decided to move into an agile industry where new ways of thinking are in high demand. Since Roland swapped consulting for an entrepreneurial role, mcs has become a more transparent organisation. He maintains a helicopter view over the entire business and defines the clear-cut structures we need to manage our growth.

This not only means a lot of value creation for our customers, but also enables his colleagues to make informed decisions at all times. When our Excel expert is not busy decoding complex issues, he loves to question the latest strategic developments in the market and to discuss the outcome with his colleagues.

Peter Kötting

Profile: lawyer, Schalke fan, brainiac, communicator, rationalist, positivist, comedian

Sometimes it is astonishing how evidently contradictory characteristics fit together under one »Billy-Idol« hedgehog-like hairdo. Peter’s belief that the main feature of a good lawyer is his fantasy may not convince everyone but it has convinced us at mcs.
Peter has become an indispensable resource for all of us. On one hand, in his own field of expertise, the law, he can be found familiarising us all with issues such as compliance, product safety, export controls or branding law. On the other hand he is author of the legendary »Weekend News«, our internal blog depicting the events of the week, which is unparalleled in its choice of language and content.

It fits with Peter’s character that he, a top lawyer, decided one day to give up his own successful practice to become one of the executives at mcs because he finds that »more fullfilling«, as he himself puts it.

Even after all his years with us at mcs, no event passes without Marc astonishing us with a new story from his eventful life – but always told casually. Stories about his time in the European Parliament, about meeting Belgian royals or from his days in an advertising agency – there hardly is a more dazzling CV around. With Marc we have found a colleague who can always develop a new perspective from his vast experience.
He draws his satisfaction not only from successful projects, but also from the practical knowledge that we have delivered everything possible (and sometimes even the impossible) for the client. His approach as customer consultant is not to copy a solution that has worked in the past, but to ask the right questions to develop new, custom-made solutions together with the client. Marc’s motto is: »Before you can reduce complexity, you have to accept and understand it«.
